Hello!  *hugs*

I’m Sara Freeman. The pleasure is all mine.

I started working as a caregiver for older folks before I started working with children. I was fascinated by the lifetime worth of stories they had to share and gained an appreciation for storytelling through those conversations. Feeling compelled to create a life full of good stories, I ventured out of my comfort zone and got a CELTA certification. This allowed me to teach in-person and online ESL classes for two years in Chicago. Through this time, I got writing/editing opportunities such as editing CVs, resumes, blogs, articles, and poetry books. In addition, I started working with various industries to create website copy, newsletters, lesson plans, video scripts, and product descriptions. I also made social media posts and managed an array of content calendars. Long story short, I became quite the little virtual assistant.

While I was succeeding in the teaching, content, and copy world, I wasn’t entirely done with caregiving and wanted to continue working with children. I read every child psychology book I could get my hands on, incorporated gentle and positive discipline techniques, and learned the full scope of a child’s mental and physical well-being. Throughout those years, I became fascinated by how our childhoods affect us well into adulthood. Upon learning about the devastating effects that child abuse has on individuals, I created a support group called Healing Ourselves from Child Abuse to give adults a space to feel validated and supported throughout their healing journeys. With over two hundred members and over two years under my belt, I have learned to lead group meetings with clear and effective communication and empathy at the center of everything I do.
